By our fifth day in the house, we had primed and painted two full rooms and finally found a good rhythm. With the bedroom and hallway taped up, we were ready for the paint. For the room and hallway, we picked Pittsburgh's Grand Distinction in First Frost, Eggshell sheen. It was a white with blue undertones that, when in bright light, stayed white but changed to a subtle blue with less light. We remembered to test the paint card under the various light sources before we bought it and were very happy with the results this time around.
M painted the ceilings for me while I painted the edging for the bedroom. I then painted the walls of both areas but didn't get a chance to finish the edging for the hallway so I left that for the next day. We also installed the dining room's old ceiling fan in the living room where it seemed to be a better fit. As I was doing my painting, M was busy changing more outlet plates, installing a new fluorescent light in the laundry room, and unsuccessfully re-keying our locks.
Once I was done painting, I cleared out the dining room, swept, and washed the floors with
HDX Wood Floor Cleaner. The cleaner was very cheap ($3) and it did a great job! We were ecstatic that the floors didn't need a lot of work besides cleaning. Lastly, we bought a rug for the dining room and moved in our chairs. Even if we still have to finish priming/painting the trim and bay window, we were happy we could start moving furniture into the house.

Added rug, chairs, and new lighting. The walls are very muted in this picture. |

Not much has changed besides vacuuming all the dust and spiders. New fluorescent light system so we aren't relying on one tiny light bulb. |
