Summertime Biking

What used to be the US Sugar Company Factory, then Garver Feed Mill, now part of Olbrich Botanical Gardens

Sad to say, but today, M and I realized that we had not biked around Lake Monona in 5 years. Since our new home is near the bike path, we decided to break our dry spell and bike around the periphery of the lake. We were happy that hour long 14 mile trip allowed us to watch two sandhill cranes beneath the highway overpass. The path also took us past the abandoned sugar/feed mill which stopped me in my tracks. I didn't remember seeing it on our previous rides but I think that's because we used to do a different route. Regardless, it was quite picturesque and I'm happy to know that Olbrich Gardens has plans to take over the building. After our 14 mile ride, we came back and pigged out on junk food and dinner.
