When M and I moved into our home in July, we scheduled for a carpet measurement from Home Depot. We thought this would be quick and easy but it turned out to be more stressful than anticipated. We paid for our measurement through their website and we waited for them to call us within 3 days like they had promised. After 3 days, we heard nothing and decided to call Home Depot. They said the internet appointment we set up never went into their system so we needed to set up another appointment even though they processed our payment. We scheduled for another callback and again, after 3 days, heard nothing. We waited for a week and went into Home Depot to try and set up the appointment again.
On the day we went, we met with a very nice lady but she was unfamiliar with the scheduling because she was filling in from the Electronics Department. It took us an hour to set up the appointment but once that was done, we shopped and left with renewed optimism. Again, after 3 days, we still did not receive our callback from Home Depot to set up the measurement so we called to inquire. The guy on the phone said that because we paid online, the lady didn't enter that information correctly so it further delayed our carpet measurement callback. After that phone call, we still had to wait 3 days for them to contact us.
Home Depot finally called us but the earliest times they had opened for a measurement was in three weeks. We took what was the earliest date and patiently waited. On the day of the measurement, the guy showed up on time and took about 30 minutes to measure 900 sq ft of space. Once he was done, he explained the measurement and went on his way.
Within that week, we picked out the carpets and paid for our order. Home Depot said they would call us when the carpet was ready to be installed. Another 3 weeks went by and they called us to schedule a date for the installation. Finally in September, the installers came to put in the carpets! They were on time, cordial, professional, and very nice. It took the two of them 7 hours for the install and they vacuumed after they were done.
Even though there were many headaches and delays in getting carpet for the house, we were extremely happy with the end result. Moreover, the total price of $2,500 for installation, tack strips, carpet pad, and carpet for 900 sq ft was the reason why we stuck with them. Home Depot's price was less than half of the $5,500 estimate we received from a local flooring store and I'm happy to say that the results were worth the delay.
